In school and colleges when we read about the chemistry, we get to know that the elements are divided into three basic types which are metal, metalloids and non-metal. But alloy is a special thing. It is basically a mixture or combination of more than two or three elements in order to form a solid strong solution. One of the best alloys is the steel. It is generally an alloy which has the most common elements that is carbon and iron. Here the percentage of carbon is 0.2 % to 2.1 % by weight. The amount of carbon content in it decides which types of grade it is. In the process of extraction of steel if we vary the content of element then it became strong with the increase in the content of carbon and it became soft when the carbon content is decreased. There are some alloys that have some low melting point; they are generally because of the carbon whose percentage in the mixture is higher than 2.1 % and that are known as cast iron. The alloy having a less percentage of carbon that is less than 0.2 % is known as wrought iron. Generally it is obtained by the commercial process where the iron from its ore is smelted. When it is extracted from its ore then the carbon content in it is more as it is expected. Manufacture of steel requires a moderate amount of carbon so it is now melted in order to decrease the percentage of carbon. After a long process of extraction and this thing requires a lot of time, so the melted liquid is then converted into some of long slabs along with it we get almost 97 % of its which is in pure form and then the carbon is added in order to make it a perfect and strong one. The converted slabs are very hot and then they are durable during this time so they bitten and made into sheet metal and they are then made cold. These are then called the bloom which is structural in shape such as rails and beams. However using this process we get the extraction and manufacturing of this product.
